Meet Sammy Shark, Tammy Turtle, Danny the Dolphin and the rest of Charlie and Max’s fun swimming buddies in this charming children’s book by Florida Swim School’s Kara Cassidy. It’s a great read for kids (of all ages!) and especially helpful when encouraging them to learn to swim and to teach water safety.
Florida Swim School based in Boca Raton, is a partner of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation USA, as we support their free swim lessons for local children in foster homes.

We asked the author, Kara Cassidy, how "Swimming Buddies" came about:
"In an attempt to reach more children and reduce drowning statistics, I created an online curriculum for educators to teach water safety in the classroom - no water required! Swimming Buddies was written to accompany the curriculum and is included when the curriculum is purchased.
In the US, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children ages 4 and younger and the second leading cause of death for children ages 5-14.
There are many scholarships available that provide free swim lessons to communities at risk of drowning. I continue to be one of these providers through Florida Swim School in Boca Raton. However, there are still thousands in these communities who will not receive these lessons due to lack of resources such as transportation, communication, and other obstacles.
After extensive research for potential solutions, the conclusion is that the only place we can reach every child is in school. Therefore, the solution is to teach every child about water safety in the classroom.
I have created the Water Safety Curriculum for Educators© to teach water safety in the classroom for ages 2-14. Lesson plans and downloadable materials for parents are included in the curriculum. My book “Swimming Buddies”© is sent to each registrant. The course takes less than 2 hours to complete. The lesson plans are for 1 hour total learning that can be split into any number of classes over a period of time.
The educator can be anyone who takes the course.
A Certificate of Completion is presented to all who complete the course.
